Our Contribution to Total Defence

The video showed how we came together in times of crises.

It was a clean sweep! NYP teams - made up of SIDM's Diploma in Animation students - took all top three positions in the Youth Crowdsource category in this year's edition of N.E.mation!12. The category allowed members of the public to submit story ideas based on this year's theme: Together We Keep Singapore Strong. Students from NYP and ITE then turned the 10 best ideas into animation clips.

Team Nacho Cheese snagged first place. Their winning clip - String of Singapore - was a creative take on how a messy ball of string slowly unravels to tell the story of how Singaporeans stuck together through thick and thin. It featured key episodes in our history such as the Japanese Occupation, the 1960s racial riots and our SARS crisis back in 2003. NYP The animation competition organised by Animagine and Nexus, the Mindef department in charge of Total Defence and National Education is into its 12th year.

A Poster Victory

Competing against top junior colleges and other polys, four SEG students clinched two awards at the Materials Exposition Week Poster competition organised by NTU's School of Materials Science and Engineering. These students designed a poster on "Development and Characterisation of Biodegradable Polymer Composites for Packaging Applications", which won them both the Gold and Most Popular awards. The judges commended them for their novelty in research and poster design as well as presentation skills.
