For the first time, poly students have the opportunity to participate in the inaugural internship programme by Enterprise Singapore (ESG). Out of the 21 students from various polys, nine are final-year SBM students from the Diploma in Business Management, Sport & Wellness Management and Hospitality & Tourism Management. Previously, only university students were eligible for the programme.

For 24 weeks, our students were attached to different start-up initiatives in ESG’s Innovation & Enterprise team. They had the chance to work on projects and key initiatives to enable the start-up ecosystem.

One of the initiatives is the “Tech Talent Strategy”, which focuses on talent needs and addressing skill gaps. Students got to hone their critical thinking skills, on top of deepening their understanding of the start-up ecosystem and mechanics.

Shares Joel Lim, final-year student from the Diploma in Sport & Wellness Management: “I’ve learnt the importance of staying agile in this VUCA (volatility, uncertainty, complexity and ambiguity) era. Just keep learning, unlearning and relearning.” The internship has also sparked connections and has inspired a few of them to co-find a start-up – nanobee – an end-to-end digital talent matching solution that matches nano-influencers to businesses.
