- The focus is to equip learners with the skills and knowledge to design and implement IOT systems integrated to cloud services using cloud APIs. The cloud services will include AI, data visualization, data analytics and storage. Learners will also be introduced to Blockchain concepts.
- The PDC is aligned to SSG’s Skills Framework and provides comprehensive coverage on the knowledge and skills sought after in the Software & Applications (IOT and Embedded systems) sectors.
Module 1: IOT Systems and Security (30 hours)
IOT systems are typically deployed in various smart systems to provide sensing, actuation and control functions. Learners will be equipped with the knowledge of Internet of things (IOT) technologies, hardware architecture of various IOT platforms and security considerations for Industrial IOT (IIOT) implementations. They will be able to implement IOT systems using IOT controllers, endpoint devices and sensors integrated with networking and cloud computing technologies.
Module 2: Applied AI and Blockchain for IOT (45 hours)
IOT solutions control and/or collect data from physically distributed objects. Blockchain allows decentralizing the three key elements of AI (data, models, analytics) to deliver the trust and confidence needed for users to fully adopt AI-based IOT solutions. Learners will be equipped with the key concepts of AI (ML, CNN, RNN, NLP) and Blockchain used in IOT solutions. They will be able to construct, train and test different RNN architectures for various NLP tasks. They will also be able to implement Blockchain using Python, creating the Ethereum network to deploy smart contracts and build AI applications using easy-to-use cloud-based APIs.
Module 3: IOT Cloud Applications with Data Analytics
Many IOT applications involves the use of cloud services for deployment, data collation and analysis. Learners will be equipped with the knowledge in emerging IOT communication technologies and protocols. They will be able to implement IOT applications using wireless personal area network (WPAN) technologies and application communication protocols such as MQTT. The focus will be on using application program interfaces (APIs) to connect to cloud based IOT services for data collection, presentation and analysis. Learners will also be able to collate distributed sensor data into on-prem/cloud databases, monitor IOT devices remotely using RESTful web services, and receive smart notifications through mobile applications.
Module 4: IOT Project (30 hours)
Harnessing technological advancements in IOT is critical in accelerating digital transformations. In this project module, learners will develop project implementation skills in IOT. They will be required to define the desired outcomes of a cloud-based IOT application/system project and to implement features using cloud APIs with data analytics services. Their IOT domain knowledge and technical skills will be enhanced through real-life scenarios in project implementations.
