Five students from the Diploma in Nursing Programme offered by the School of Health and Social Sciences volunteered at the Caregiving @ South West event on 1 December 2018.

Supervised by a trained nursing staff, the students had the opportunity to teach caregivers on how to care for their loved ones who had suffered from a stroke. These include teaching them how to do daily tasks like transferring a patient to the wheelchair and the preparation of beverages with thickener for patients who have trouble swallowing.

The event was a golden opportunity for our nursing students to put the knowledge they had acquired in the classroom into practice.
