An App to Help Find Lost Seniors with Dementia
School of Information Technology Published on 30 Apr 2019

Dementia can be scary for the sufferers, their loved ones and their caregivers. In collaboration with the Agency for Integrated Care and the Integrated Health Information Systems, our School of Information Technology (SIT) developed the Dementia Friends app that serves as a one-stop platform to provide resources and support for caregivers.

The app allows families of a missing person with dementia to send an alert with details of the missing person to app users.  Users can then report sightings of the person through the app, alert the caregivers or even accompany the person to over 200 designated Go-To points all over Singapore. It also provides useful information on dementia and other resources such as list of services for persons with dementia and their caregivers and financial schemes to the app users.

This project was officially launched on 25 October 2018. Over the past one year, more than 50 people, aged between 50 and 90, who were reported lost have been found through this app.
