An Ode to French Cuisine

Final-year students from SBM's Diploma in Food & Beverage Business impressed guests with their modern take on classic French gastronomy and showcased the very best of food service.

Over 150 guests consisting of industry partners, NYP students, staff, alumni, and members of the public attended the thoughtfully curated six-course degustation dinner held between 03 and 05 Aug.

This was also the first time external guests were invited to a degustation dinner since the pandemic started.

Inspired by classic French culinary heritage, students displayed their creativity and showcased their culinary skills. They were also challenged to use a mystery ingredient in each course, which is then paired with a cocktail/mocktail/wine.

Our students spent three months planning for the event, which was also part of their graduation showcase.

Guests were also greeted by a stunning two-metre-tall Eiffel Tower made by these students at MakerSpace@NYP. The students had spent 150 hours creating the Eiffel Tower as well as the Arc de Triomphe miniatures. Each piece was meticulously 3D printed with the help of coaches at MakerSpace@NYP – all to better evoke the feel of France.
