Workshop for next gen foodie content creators

Over 40 learners signed up for the interdisciplinary workshop Foodies Shot: Eat Drink & Post held at L’Rez Training Restaurant on 01 Jul.

Initiated by SBM, it was the first time an interdisciplinary workshop like this had been organised. The programme was put together by the team who pulled resources and talents from across NYP and industry.

Says deputy manager Umah Devi Ramasamy: “We chose to run this workshop as we know it's something young people will be excited about. But more than that, it is a great opportunity for them to cultivate a greater appreciation for the finer details of food presentation, and up their game in content creation.”

The workshop provided participants a platform to try their hand at mocktail mixing, food plating, and capturing all that to create drool-worthy social media posts.

The hands-on activities were led by resident experts in their fields: SAS lecturer Tammy Fan (dessert plating), SBM senior lecturer Karthik Bakthavathsalem (mixology), as well as SBM lecturer Samantha Chan and food photographer, Ana, from Eat Crave Grub (social media content).

1st year SBM student Annika Nur Liyana was one of many who found the workshop useful.  She learnt to experiment with lighting positions, shooting angles and food styling.
