New programme to help local businesses ride global digitainment wave
Published on 22 Oct 2019

Dear Media Friends,

China has created a new industry called Retail Digitainment valued at S$20 billion. Digitainment, a mashup of digital and entertainment, refers to content by live streamers that entertain and interact with their followers even as they sell products. This trend is expected to move swiftly to the rest of the world with the growing popularity of live streaming e-commerce platforms.

Nanyang Polytechnic’s Singapore Institute of Retail Studies (NYP-SIRS) and the Singapore Media Academy (SMA) will be launching a joint Professional Certificate in Digital Retail Entertainment and a new Professional Conversion Programme in New Media by NYP-SIRS. For these programmes, NYP-SIRS will collaborate with SMA and trend leader – Alibaba-Taobao University.

The partnership between NYP-SIRS and SMA will be formalised through a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signing at an upcoming Industry Practitioner Seminar 2019. The MOU signing will be witnessed by Guest of Honour, Senior Minister of State for Trade & Industry and Education, Mr Chee Hong Tat.

We invite you and your photographer/crew to join us at the seminar. Interview opportunities with representatives from NYP-SIRS and SMA can be arranged upon request.
