Course objectives
Upon completing this course, participants will be able to:
1. Define basic oral health terminology and concepts, in relation to oral health promotion.
2. Identify key parts and functions of the oral cavity.
3. Describe the causes and symptoms of common dental diseases.
4. Demonstrate correct oral hygiene practices, using dental models in a practical setting.
5. Appreciate the impact of diet on oral health by categorizing foods into beneficial, neutral, or harmful groups.
6. Apply communication techniques to educate patients on oral hygiene, using role-play scenarios with patients of varied backgrounds.
Course description
The Basic Oral Health Promotion course provides basic knowledge and practical skills in oral health promotion, with a focus on understanding the anatomy of the oral cavity, recognizing common dental diseases, appreciating the importance of diet, and understanding simple communication techniques for patient education. Practical activities and role-playing exercises ensure an engaging, hands-on learning experience that participants can immediately apply in their professional roles.
