Course objectives
The WSC features three Modular Certificates, with each Modular Certificate of 180 hours comprising four/ five modules and an OJT (institution-company led) project.The WSC is proposed to span 18 months with:a) 14 modules to be completed on campus with one full-day releases from the company per week of lessons stretching over 71 weeks, one full day. b) three OJT projects to be conducted concurrently at the workplace stretching over 71 weeks.The 18-month OJT aspect of the course, at the participant’s workplace, includes the completion of OJT modules (540 hours), three OJT (institution- company led projects) projects and periodic consultation and assessment sessions.
Course description
The course aims to equip participants with the necessary skills and knowledge to support the food sector. It allows participants to gain valuable work experience and reinforce classroom learning.By the end of this course, learners will be able to:• Apply foundational knowledge in food science, food chemistry, and food microbiology to real-world food manufacturing operations.• Execute and manage processes related to food safety, regulatory compliance, and quality assurance.• Operate and evaluate key unit operations and equipment used in food processing.• Design and improve food packaging and preservation solutions based on food technology principles.• Conduct structured on-the-job projects that contextualize theoretical knowledge into practical workplace tasks across QA, R&D, and production roles.
