Course objectives

Midwifery is concerned with the care of women and their families during pregnancy, labour and postnatal period. The Advanced Diploma in Nursing (Midwifery) equips students with pertinent knowledge and skills to become sensitive, safe and competent midwives who will be able to meet the needs of women and their families during the time of birth.

Course description

he Advanced Diploma in Nursing (Midwifery) courses will be offered full-time over 33 weeks. Total curriculum is 860 hours comprising 420 hours of academic studies and 440 of clinical practice. The following PDCs are covered under this programme:

1. Post-Diploma Certificate in Principles and Science of Midwifery (210 hrs)

2. Post-Diploma Certificate in Practice of Midwifery 1 (120 hrs)

3. Post-Diploma Certificate in Advanced Concepts in Midwifery (210 hrs)

4. Post-Diploma Certificate in Practice of Midwifery 2 (320 hrs)
