If you are absent from any assessment including examination without a valid and acceptable reason, you are deemed to have sat and failed that assessment.
With effect from 25 Oct 2021, you are required to update your absence from classes and all assessments including examinations via the Statement of Absence (SOA) System in the Student Portal, and submit the softcopy of the documentary proof within two (2) working days from the last day of the absence.
In addition, for all assessments, including examination, you must submit original* hardcopy documentary proof within two (2) working days from the last day of absence. For other classes, e.g. lecture, tutorial, practical and laboratory, if you are selected for hardcopy verification, you must submit the original* hardcopy documentary proof, including medical certificate, within the next two (2) working days from the last day of the absence to your School’s administration office. Once this is done, your absence will not be counted in the calculation of your attendance. For example, if the last day of your absence is on a Friday, you must submit the original* documentary proof by Tuesday, 6pm.
*Important Notes:
Before on-campus classes are fully resumed, if you are selected for hardcopy verification, you are to submit the original hardcopy of the documentary proof when you next return to campus. If you are not selected for audit check, please retain the original hardcopy documentary proof for 6 months.
Medical certificates must be endorsed by a medical practitioner registered with the Singapore Medical Council or a dental practitioner registered with the Singapore Dental Council, who should not be a family member. Medical certificates from Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) practitioners are not accepted.
Submission of a valid medical certificate does not guarantee that you can sit for an alternative assessment under existing policy. Unless otherwise permitted, you will have only one attempt at passing the alternative assessment.
