Well-structured internships consist of on-the-job training to ensure that learners maximise the benefits of workplace learning. As companies leverage internships to scout potential hires, having a structured programme allows them to evaluate the competency development of their interns.

Mentorship

To co-develop our talent, NYP will provide a School Internship Mentor. The partnering company should supply an Industry Supervisor and a Mentor for our learners.

School Internship Mentor (SIM)

The School Internship Mentor is the point of contact for both the learner and the company. He works with the Industry Supervisor to monitor the learner’s performance during the internship and conducts the final assessment.

Industry Supervisor (IS)

The Industry Supervisor will plan and discuss the internship requirements with the School Internship Mentor. He will also:

  • Brief the learner on company policies and other internship requirements
  • Guide the learner to meet learning outcomes, assess his performance and discuss his progress with the School Internship Mentor

Industry Internship Mentor (IIM)

The role of the Industry Internship Mentor does not include the day-to-day assignment of work responsibilities – he may or may not be the immediate supervisor of the intern.

In this capacity, the Industry Internship Mentor will provide career guidance and share relevant opportunities in the sector.
