Y-Adaptor Haemostatic Valve for Percutaneous Coronary Intervention

Haemostatic valves normally has to be shut to stop blood from leaking. The entire contraption is also transparent to monitor blood loss or leakage. The conventional valve requires a twisting mechanism to open and close it.

The team designed a novel, yet simpler and ergonomic Y-Adaptor that requires only a back and forth movement of the finger and thumb to operate the haemostatic valve. It is also contoured to be user-friendly – only one hand is required to operate it.
