Juncheng graduated from the Advanced Diploma in Nursing course at Nanyang Polytechnic. Since then, he has been working at Yishun Community Hospital.

What made you go into this line of work?

My mum works in the healthcare industry and I used to accompany her to work when I was young. That triggered my interest in nursing and my passion in helping people.

What was the most memorable moment you had in NYP?

I have had lots of fun in NYP with my fellow course mates. I have learnt a lot during my journey at NYP that I can put to use at work.

What do you do in your free time?

I take part in many activities during my free time. I practise three martial arts- jujitsu, historical European martial art, and Taekwondo. I'm a registered coach for Taekwondo with the National Registry of Coaches (NROC). I am a with Healthserve, an oragnisation that provides medical and social support for migrant workers. I also volunteer at SCDF under the Civil Defence Auxiliary Unit. Besides, I sit on the Editorial Board of SNA Connect, a newsletter for Singapore Nurses Association. Whenever I can, I also volunteer in the Grassroots, I'm in the committee for the Residents Network in my neighbourhood, and also help out with C2E (Community Emergency and Engagement Committee) of Gambas.

How would you like to give back to your alma mater?

I would be interested to help my juniors in nursing by giving them advice about career/life. I would love to give tuition in nursing, something that is not commonly found but may be in demand for nursing students. My wife and I had previously tutored a student who needed help.

Do you have any words of advice for juniors?
Always welcome opportunities that come your way. Look forward to learning new things.
