Poly life has been an absolute blast! I have had the opportunity to travel and compete in track and field events but I am not falling behind at school either – and am still making the Director’s List. My bridging year with the Poly Foundation Programme made all the difference. Not only do you do modules that help you prepare for year 1, you also get to be part of NYP’s community and CCAs. It’s opened up so many avenues and wonderful experiences.

1. What was your reaction when your PFP application was successful?
I literally jumped for joy! It was great (and, quite a huge relief, to be honest) to know that I would be getting directly into the poly without the stress of depending on my O-Level results. Hooray!

2. Would you recommend the PFP to your juniors?
Absolutely! It can guarantee you a place to study your preferred diploma, while letting you skip the O Levels. You will also get the advantage of easily transiting to the poly culture, curriculum, learning style and pace – much earlier than the other poly freshmen. In fact, I’d encourage them to grab the opportunity. The PFP has helped a lot in getting me prepared for my diploma and adjusted to poly life.

3. What do you like about NYP?
Oh, there’s so much to share: the environment, facilities and people, especially my friends and CCA teammates. After a long hectic day in school, we can simply pop by T-junction (that’s pretty much a student-only hang out facility) to chillax and have fun. There’re also great facilities for active students like me, such as the gym, hockey pitch, stadium, swimming pool, indoor sports hall, tennis courts, and more.

4. We see that you are doing really well in your CCA. How do you juggle the demands of your studies and CCA?
That’s right! In 2017, I travelled to Hong Kong and represented NYP in the Watsons Athletic Club (WAC) competition. Then, I took part in the Singapore Athletics Inter-Club Championships 2018, where our team won the silver medal in the 4x100m relay. I’ve also participated in the Poly-ITE competition 2019 recently, and took home the bronze medal in the 100m individual race.

It’s never easy to juggle between studies and the CCA – it takes effort and discipline. And, it’s all about time management. While I make time to train, I’ll also have to make sure that I’m on top of my studies. Thankfully, I’m coping well so far. I’ve been on the Director’s list for every semester. 😊

5. What do you wish to do after graduating from NYP?
I want to further my studies in a university after getting my diploma. I also can’t wait to get my licensed aircraft engineer certificate very soon *fingers cross*
