Inspiring Graduates

Scott Matthew Tan Yan En (Class of 2022)

Scott enrolled in NYP, via the Polytechnic Foundation Programme (PFP), because he was fascinated by the process of making biologics medicines. This passion drove him to put his best foot forward during his 31-week internship at Amgen – the world’s largest pure play medical biotechnology company. Despite the challenges of remote working during the COVID-19 pandemic, Scott scored a distinction for his internship at the Quality Assurance Department where he worked on several projects to improve work processes and efficiencies. Academics aside, Scott formed a team which came out tops in the Support Local Business STA competition, where the team formulated an impressive sales pitch to the board of directors of local coffee company, Wickeg. Scott is also an avid climber and has represented NYP in bouldering competitions.

Tham Jun Heng, Javier  (Class of 2021)

During his time in NYP, he had a part-time role as a lab assistant at NUS Department of Biological Sciences and also interned at GSK working on vaccines. Javier is now working as a Research Technologist at the National Cancer Centre, while he waits to be enlisted into the national service. He has received an offer for the Chemistry and Biological Chemistry programme at NTU, and plans to pursue postgraduate studies one day.
