Succeeding at WorldSkills Singapore 2020
School of Business Management

WorldSkills is a National competition that challenges and recognises the technical skills of youth in Singapore. Cloris Tan and Grace Quek from the Diploma in Hospitality & Tourism Management represented Nanyang Polytechnic in WSS. Cloris and Grace were challenged to demonstrate their skills in the area of Hotel Reception. Participants had to role play six different hotel reception scenarios, including check-in and check-out, handing guests’ complaints and offering assistance to guests. Our students did not disappoint and rose to the challenge. They were awarded the Silver and Bronze titles respectively. The students were shortlisted from a list of over 20 hopefuls in November 2019 and spent almost a year training and preparing for the competition. There was a total of 9 participants from 5 Institutes of Higher Learning, with the champion getting a chance to represent Singapore at WorldSkills Shanghai 2021.
