The SMU Tax Case Challenge 2020 was held online this year but that did not deter our students from still giving a hundred percent! The preliminary rounds were held on 5-6 September 2020 and the final round was held on 12 September 2020. 5 teams from the Diploma in Accountancy & Finance (DAF) represented Nanyang Polytechnic this year. Of the 5 teams, Team AC did very well in the preliminary round and made it to the final round where they were given 105 minutes to evaluate a tax case and presented possible implications and recommendations to the judges. The students displayed their ability to work meticulously within a short time frame and they emerged as Champions in the Polytechnic category, winning $1,200 and an internship opportunity with Deloitte Singapore which they unfortunately had to forego as they had already completed their internship.
