ROUTING ESSENTIALS [30 hours]
This module enables students to implement a routable network. Student will learn about the static and dynamic routing protocols such as RIP. Other features in a routable network environment, such as Access Control Lists and Network Address Translation, will be introduced. The student will also be taught how to troubleshoot the routing network, NAT and ACLs.
IMPLEMENTING LAN [30 hours]
This module enables students to articulate the technology and protocols needed in designing and implementing a LAN switched network. Students will learn about the hierarchical network model and considerations for selecting devices for each layer. The module also explains the steps in configuring a switch for basic functionality. It also covers Virtual LANs implementation, basic Switch Security, Inter-VLAN routing and DHCP in a converged network. Students will also learn about firmware and software upgrades for network devices.
OPEN SYSTEM ESSENTIALS [30 hours]
This module enables students to implement essential Operating System services need for an enterprise system. These include the management of file systems, system security/recovery, network directory services and software deployment for the enterprise. Boot-up sequence will be covered and issues resulting from mis-configuration will be discussed.
IT SERVICE MANAGEMENT [30 hours]
This module enables students to articulate insights on the latest developments in the field of IT service management. It covers the methodologies and tools with regards to planning, support, delivery and management of quality IT services. The functions and processes in Service Strategy, Design, Transition and Operation will also be discussed.
SYSTEM & NETWORK ADMINISTRATION PROJECT [60 hours]
This module enables students to demonstrate their industry-relevant skills in the area of IT Networks, System Administration as well as IT service management. Students are required to apply the knowledge learnt to the project works. They will setup and troubleshoot computer servers with essential services. They will also implement IT network with appropriate routing and switching protocol.
