Diploma in Cybersecurity & Digital Forensics, Year 3

When it comes to choosing a poly, I look for a school with a good reputation and strong industry connections. My keen interest in IT and Programming made NYP's Diploma in Cybersecurity & Digital Forensics THE choice course for me.

It's been a great ride since then. I found out about the Google Developer Student Club (DSC) through my course coordinator. I was chosen to become the first Google DSC Lead from a polytechnic when the programme was first launched in Singapore in 2019. Google’s rigorous interview process wasn’t easy – but I’m thankful for the support from my lecturers along the way.

Perks of being a Google DSC Lead? I attended the three-day DSC South East Asia (SEA) Summit in KL, met DSC leads from other SEA countries, and had the opportunity to learn from Google professionals themselves! Our mission – to create value and spread IT knowledge to students in campus. What’s more, Google provides resources such as teaching materials, prizes and certificates for such sharing sessions!

To fulfil my Google DSC mission, I started the NYP DSC. I'm especially grateful to my lecturers who played key roles in helping me establish the club!

NYP DSC has since led six successful events, kickstarted three projects and impacted hundreds of students. One memorable experience was when we helped freshmen cope better with Home-Based Learning during COVID-19 by holding a fortnightly series of Programming Workshops!

I've definitely come out of my shell because I used to be an introverted person. Being the club's president has taught me how to be an effective communicator and leader.

At NYP, I've had the opportunity to have a fun-filled education. I was in the Volleyball and Strongman Clubs. I even took part in various competitions and won the NYP iCodeiTell competition for my start-up idea – an application to provide users with a platform to express their gratitude!

Now, I'm working on my start-up as my Final Year Project. If possible, I hope to pursue it further after graduation.

NYP has opened many doors for me and I am grateful for that. I hope to fulfil my dreams of becoming an entrepreneur one day.
