Immersive Experience at UbiSoft
School of Design & Media

Dream of working on a highly anticipated multiplayer game? Let me share with you my internship experience at Ubisoft. But first, let me introduce myself, I am Terry Lim from Diploma in Game Development & Technology, School of Design & Media.

During my final year, I had a chance to do a six-month internship at Ubisoft, thanks to my School’s connections with the game industry. Ubisoft helped me learn how an AAA-rated game studio operates, as well as gave me hands-on experience in working on a highly anticipated multiplayer online game.

I really enjoyed the experience. Every morning we would have a team scrum, to catch up on each colleague’s progress. Tasks would also be assigned during the scrum. We could also request for support if we needed it.

Being a programmer, I was involved in various aspects of game development, such as the documentation of specific codes. What I learnt at NYP also helped me easily adapt to the different types of software used during the development of the game.

Being a fan of Assassin's Creed 3 and 4, I naturally really liked the game I was working on, which had some similarities. It was exciting because the game was also Ubisoft Singapore's first lead AAA project.

The people at my company were also very friendly and welcoming. They guided me when I needed help, especially when I was new to the team. I still keep in touch with many of them.

This experience has helped me decide that this is what I want to do in the future.
