Keeping Workplace Fun and Safe in France
School of Design & Media

So imagine that you had a chance to go to France for an internship. And that internship was with a major international company. Then, you were invited to create a game to keep that company’s workplace safe.

That was exactly what happened to me. Hi, my name is Wei Min, and I just graduated from NYP's School of Design & Media.

I just want to start by saying I am immensely thankful to my lecturers, who provided super guidance through my journey! My education at NYP made me ready for the challenges when I interned with the international automotive supplies company Continental. (You may be more familiar with its brand of tires but the company also produces solutions for various industries from Aerospace to F&B to Rail Transport, etc!)

Two other students and myself went to Continental's plant in Toulouse, France to develop a game about the 5S system of safety checks. FYI: 5S is a standardised process to create and maintain a safe, efficient and clean workplace

It was not easy! But this was a great real life experience and we were working on a problem that had a real impact. Through this, I’ve made so many new friends around the globe from different backgrounds and cultures, and seen and experienced so many things in a single overseas internship! It went way beyond the classroom.

I am glad I soldiered on despite the initial difficulties – my lecturers tell me that today, months after I left my internship, my game is still at work and being played in France! That makes me so proud.

If you asked me, I’d say yes to do it all over again in a heartbeat.
