Medical Device Electrical Safety Testing (IEC60601/IEC62353) and Functional Analysis

Medical Device Electrical Safety Testing (IEC60601/IEC62353) and Functional Analysis

About this course

Course objectives

This course offers a deep dive for biomedical engineers in two areas:1) functional testing and analysis of two essential medical devices: the patient monitor and the infusion pump.2) provide an understanding of electrical safety in relation to the IEC60601 and IEC62353 standards.

Course description

Participants will learn: different types of electrical hazards associated with medical equipment and their potential impact on patients, users, and the environment. different types of electrical safety tests that are commonly performed on medical equipment, including leakage current tests, earth bond tests, and insulation resistance tests. the skills and knowledge necessary to perform the above tests and interpret the results. hands-on testing of several hospital equipment a comprehensive understanding of electrical safety as well as the skills and knowledge necessary to perform electrical safety testing on medical equipment and ensure its ongoing safety and effectiveness. knowledge and hands-on experience needed to ensure the patient monitor and the infusion pump operate accurately and efficiently within a clinical setting.
