Operating Systems & Network Security (Part of SCTP)
About this course
Course objectives
Modern operating systems and networking protocols form the foundation of secure and efficient technology ecosystems, from enterprise networks to ubiquitous mobile devices. At his learning unit, learners will gain comprehensive knowledge of operating systems and networking protocols, including their features and implementations across various platforms, such as wireless networks. They will develop critical skills in system administration, including hardening operating systems against threats, implementing best practices for secure network design, and monitoring to ensure a robust security posture within and beyond the enterprise. Additionally, learners will acquire proficiency in shell scripting for Windows and Linux, enabling task automation and process optimization to enhance overall system and network security.
This learning unit is part of the (SCTP) Certificate in Cybersecurity Incident Investigator programme, supported by Cyber Security Agency of Singapore and CyberSG Talent, Innovation and Growth (TIG) Collaboration Centre under the SG Cyber Professionals initiative.
Course description
At the end of the learning unit, you will be able toIdentify core components of operating systems and secured network protocols by describing the functionalities.
Explain the security concepts in operating systems and common network attacks and defences.
Identify network threats and vulnerabilities by analysing security in different network and security layers.
Implement security configurations and shell scripting through the administrations of a computer system.
