Academic Integrity Policy

As NYP moves towards a continuous-assessment based system, we will treat all acts that contravene academic integrity in any assessment of a module as equally serious and will therefore give consistent treatment to these incidents.  The new policy will differentiate first, second and third-time offenders as follows:

First Offence

A candidate who, after due disciplinary process, is found to have committed an act that contravenes academic integrity in any assessment of a module shall fail the module. The candidate shall be given an ‘F’ grade for the module with a corresponding grade point of 0 (0 mark).

That is, if a student is caught cheating for the first time in any assessment, he/she will fail the module, not just the assessment.

Second Offence

A candidate who, after due disciplinary process is, found to have committed an act that contravenes academic integrity for a second time in his/her candidature in NYP shall be deemed to have failed all the registered (but uncompleted) modules. The candidate shall be given an ‘F’ grade for these modules with a corresponding grade point of 0 (0 mark).

That is, if a student is caught cheating a second time, he/she will fail all the modules in that semester.

Third Offence

A candidate who, after due disciplinary process is, found to have committed an act that contravenes academic integrity for a third time in his/her candidature in NYP shall have his/her candidature terminated. He/she shall be deemed to have failed all the registered (but uncompleted) modules. The candidate shall be given an ‘F’ grade for these modules with a corresponding grade point of 0 (0 mark).

That is, if a student is caught cheating for a third time, he/she will be removed from NYP.
