Frequently asked questions

  • Attending the FMO is highly encouraged for several reasons:

    • Make new friends: It's a fantastic opportunity to meet fellow freshmen, seniors, and student mentors who can guide you through your polytechnic journey.
    • Understand the admin side: Familiarise yourself with important resources, procedures, and systems you'll need throughout your studies.
    • Get informed: Learn about your course, school, and support services available to you.
    • Start your polytechnic experience on a positive note: Immerse yourself in the NYP community and start your journey feeling prepared and excited!
  • While not strictly mandatory, attending the FMO is strongly recommended for the benefits mentioned above. It equips you with valuable knowledge and connections to make the most of your polytechnic experience.

  • If you're feeling unwell, it's best to prioritise your health and stay home. However, please inform the school POC (list of contact persons provided below) as soon as possible to notify them of your absence and for any necessary follow-up.

  • If unforeseen circumstances prevent you from attending, inform the school POC (list of contact persons provided below) as soon as possible. They can advise on alternative resources or catch-up sessions to ensure you don't miss crucial information.

  • Yes, registration is essential for the FMO. This helps the organisers prepare resources and ensure a smooth experience for everyone. You can RSVP your place by visiting https://for.edu.sg/nyp-fmo-registration.

    • Please report to the Auditorium Lobby for registration starting from 8.30 am.
    • The orientation will begin at 9.30am.

    Please arrive on time to avoid missing important announcements and activities.

  • Dress comfortably and appropriately. Opt for covered shoes and clothing suitable for movement and participation in various activities.

  • No, the FMO is a day event. You are not required to stay overnight.

  • You have several options to reach NYP:

     

    Our campus is located at the junction of Ang Mo Kio Avenue 5 and Avenue 8. Look out for nearby landmarks like the Grassroots Club and Yio Chu Kang MRT station.

     

    Getting to NYP is easy as there are various bus and train routes.

     

    By MRT

    • NYP is a five-minute walk from Yio Chu Kang MRT station.
    • Once you alight, cross over and walk on the sheltered pavement along Ang Mo Kio Avenue 8. The pavement leads directly to escalators that will take you into the NYP Atrium.

     

    By Bus

    • NYP is a five-minute walk away from Yio Chu Kang Bus Terminal. Bus services available at Yio Chu Kang Bus Terminal include: 13, 70, 72, 76, 162, and 825. Once you alight, cross over and walk on the sheltered pavement along Ang Mo Kio Avenue 8. The pavement leads directly to escalators that will take you into the NYP Atrium.
    • Other bus services that lead to NYP: Along Avenue 5: 45, 50, 159, and 265
Along Avenue 6: 45, 86, 128, 851, 853 and NR1

     

    By Car, Taxi or Private Hire Vehicle

    • You can enter our campus via three entrances - along Ang Mo Kio Avenue 5 (opposite Anderson Secondary School), along Ang Mo Kio Avenue 8 (opposite Serangoon JC) or along Avenue 9 (after the Ang Mo Kio Police Station and Ang Mo Kio Street 65).
    • If you're coming from the city via the Central Expressway (CTE), take Exit 12B and turn into Avenue 5. If you’re coming from the opposite direction, take Exit 14 and turn into Avenue 5.
