International Game Concept Challenge 2025 Brings Together Global Game Talents
Conceived by Nanyang Polytechnic, the International Game Concept Challenge 2025 gathered 60 participants from 8 institutions, challenging them to create innovative game concepts inspired by the theme “Omne Trium Perfectum”.
The International Game Concept Challenge (IGCC) 2025 returned as an annual friendly game creation competition conceived by Nanyang Polytechnic (NYP) and jointly organised by three founding education institutes:
- Nanyang Polytechnic, School of Design & Media (Singapore)
- Trident School of IT (Japan)
- Rubika Supinfogame (France)
IGCC was created to nurture innovative new game ideas and give the next generation of game developers the opportunity to work with peers from different countries. By collaborating across borders, participants experience first-hand how modern game development often involves teams made up of many nationalities working across different cultures.
A Global Mix of Institutions and Teams
For IGCC 2025, 8 institutions took part, with a total of 60 participants. They were randomly split into 10 teams of 6, encouraging cross-institution and cross-cultural collaboration from the very start.
Participating institutions:
- Bansomdejchaopraya Rajabhat University
- Chihlee University of Technology
- Chungkang College of Cultural Industries
- Communication University of China
- Nanyang Polytechnic
- Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology
- Trident College of IT
- Ynov Campus
The event was supported by Koei-Tecmo Singapore as the event sponsor.
Theme: “Omne Trium Perfectum”
The theme for IGCC 2025 was drawn from the Latin phrase “Omne Trium Perfectum”, which translates to “Everything that comes in threes is perfect.”
This is a widely recognised idea across multiple cultures and appears frequently in storytelling, design, art and more. It offers a simple yet powerful framework to create balance, rhythm and tension.
Teams were challenged to use this theme as the foundation of their game concept by bringing together three distinct elements — whether through:
- Story narrative
- Gameplay mechanics
- Visual aesthetics
The goal: to create an innovative game that offers players a fun and memorable experience built around the power of “three”.
