Personalised learning is here: NYP’s Diploma in Nursing tailors lessons to your pace, style, and needs, helping you thrive as a future nurse.

 

At the heart of this innovation is Dr Arati Mali, Senior Lecturer.  She introduced the Learning Adaptive Pathway (LEAP) technology into the Applied Anatomy and Physiology modules – a core subject for nursing students and a challenging one for those with limited background in biology.

 

But with LEAP, online materials are adapted to each and every student’s individual learning style. The system tracks how students engage with different types of content (such as short animated videos, interactive graphics, and classic textbook explanations), before recommending the best learning materials for each student.

 

NYP nursing students take Applied Anatomy and Physiology in their first year to build essential knowledge of human biology. They explore key topics like cell biology, body systems, homeostasis, microbiology, pathophysiology, and pharmacology to support holistic patient care.

“No two students learn the same way, and LEAP ensures every student gets the right resources at the right time,” shares Dr Arati.

The results?

  • Improvement of results in LEAP-enabled topics
  • Over 95% student satisfaction at the end of the Learning Unit
  • Targeted support for students who need it most (identified with the help of learning analytics)

 

“I really love LEAP because I can learn things that I am not sure of through tests and quizzes. The interactive quizzes cover all aspects of each topic and I can catch up on those aspects that I have missed out on during lecture. It encourages us to find out more about the topic for deeper understanding,” shares Aye Myat Phyu (Graduating Class of 2026).

 

Her classmate, Nur Izzah Binte Zulkifli (Graduating Class of 2026), agrees. “LEAP activities helped me to visualise and improve my understanding of the concepts. The practice questions were very useful and really helped me with my studies.”

 

Using learning analytics, Dr Arati identifies students who may need extra help and ensure they get timely academic support, so no one gets left behind.

 

For nursing students, this means that even the toughest subjects become more engaging, less daunting, and well within reach.
