Books to Help Inmates’ Families

A group of final year SHS students from the Diploma in Social Sciences (Social Work) recently collaborated with the Singapore After-Care Association (SACA), to create a set of books for families whose loved ones are jailed.

The books answer all sorts of questions families might have about the process and the types of help available. They are also pitched at different levels – children, youths and adults. So a children’s book would have illustrations about how Daddy’s love continues, even if he is unable to meet the child physically, for instance.

The students met with families of ex-offenders to understand what they went through. The books were illustrated by an SIDM student from the Diploma in Animation and will be distributed by SACA. Click here for the full story.
