A Garden Conceived with Love

“A garden conceived with love, with the aim to bring love to the residents!”

With the intention of bringing the community closer, our School of Design’s Diploma in Spatial Design students designed and created a community garden for the residents at Jalan Besar.

At the opening of the Community Garden, Ms Denise Phua, Mayor of Central Singapore District described the Community Garden as a garden conceived with love, with the aim to bring love to the residents. She acknowledged our students’ role in this project – from conceptualisation, design to working closely with the architect in making this garden a reality.

To promote sustainability, recycled materials were used. A play area for children, in the form of a re-purposed lorry cabin (purchased from a scrap yard!), was included next to the pavilion. Even oil barrels were re-used as seats and planters!
