From the Heartlands to the Outback

As part of this year's Passion Arts Festival, 14 SIDM students brought their creative talents to the open area at Toa Payoh Central on July 15. Illustrating a whimsical wonderland, they jazzed up ordinary household furniture like a bookshelf, wardrobe and small cupboards with bright colours and quirky designs. Their works caught the eyes of the public, with some even joining in to paint!y text.

Two Animation students spent close to three full days of travelling, including a 20-hour bus journey to heed the call of the Outback. As part of the Vision Splendid Outback Film Festival, Nur Khairiana and Vivian Lim attended the Outback Filmmaking Bootcamp in Brisbane, Australia. Their week-long adventure involved camping in the outback, visiting cultural places of interest and experiencing stunning sunsets. The change in scenery proved to be a source of inspiration for the city kids as they produced a short film for the festival's closing night.
