They honed their skills at the international arena. They immersed themselves in the Thai culture and bonded as Team Singapore. To top it all, they won a gold, a bronze and four medallions for excellence for their efforts.

Eight NYP competitors - part of the 40-strong team of youths - represented Singapore in the 12th WorldSkills ASEAN 2018 Competition held in Bangkok, Thailand from 31 Aug to 2 Sept, 2018. The results of the competition were announced during the closing ceremony on 4 Sept.

Gold medallist Jamie Jessica Leong was feeling jubilant. “This is the first time I am taking part in such a large-scale competition. I learnt lots about how to juggle multiple tasks within a short time, and how to achieve both speed and accuracy in my projects,” she said.

“I definitely had a lot of fun bonding with my fellow Team Singapore competitors as well. Winning this will motivate me to take up new challenges in future and upgrade my skills further,” added Jamie, a Diploma in Animation student from NYP’s School of Digital & Interactive Media.

Our national team bagged a total of three golds, three silvers, three bronzes and seven Medallions for Excellence. Way to go Team Singapore!
