Better Job Prospects for Fresh Poly Grads Last Year
Published on 18 Jan 2019

Polytechnic graduates are in demand. In fact, fresh polytechnic graduates last year did better than their seniors in employment and commanded higher salaries.

According to the latest Graduate Employment Survey released on 15 January 2019, 89.5 per cent of graduates found permanent, freelance or part-time jobs last year within six months of graduation. This is 2.2 percentage points higher than the figure for the 2017 batch

The survey, conducted by the five polytechnics, also showed that the median monthly salary for graduates who landed full-time jobs rose from $2,235 in 2017 to $2,350 last year.

Our School of Information Technology graduate, Lan Yung Lee (a survey participant) shared that she started work last August as a security operations centre analyst at cyber security firm, Ensign after only a one-month job search.

A Diploma in Cyber Security and Digital Forensics graduate, Yung Lee decided to delve into the cyber security field after reading in the news that professionals in this field were in demand.

Her job at Ensign involves monitoring clients' networks for possible threats and investigating them. She shared that her training in NYP has prepared her well for work and to manage the various new challenges she faces every day.  Click here for more information on the Graduate Employment Survey.
