A Glimpse into the Future

Over 75 robot enthusiasts took part in this year’s Singapore Robotic Games 2020 held in NYP on 5 and 6 Feb. Students from the School of Engineering participated in seven categories and took home two Golds (Wall Climbing Robot and Legged Marathon Robot), two Silvers (Open Category and Humanoid Robot) and one Bronze (RC Underwater Robot).

Into its 27th run, the annual competition is set up like the Olympics but instead, robots would participate in the events. Higher-performance robotic systems, meant to display to the public of what tertiary students can do with robotics, also provide a glimpse into robots of the future. A new category will also be launched next year by National Parks Board (NParks) – Tree Inspection Robot category.

The national event was held in cooperation with IEEE Robotics and Automation Society Singapore and was jointly organised by the five polytechnics, ITE and the Singapore Science Centre.
