9-Day Precision Engineering Assessment & Reskilling Lab (PEARL) Basic Metrology & Interpretation of Drawing
About this course
Course objectives
This 9-day course comprises 4-day lab training, to be conducted at Nanyang Polytechnic, followed by 5-day practical training, to be conducted at a Company. Learners will be equipped with basic skills to perform calculations, interpret engineering drawing, perform dimensional measurement in Quality Control, and support manufacturing related operations. This course offers basic induction into precision engineering that supports the Industry 4.0 ecosystem. The programme adopts a hands-on approach which is well appreciated by the Precision Engineering Industry and well suited for mid-career workers and/or any kinesthetics learners.
Course description
This course covers basic mathematics, metrology, and interpretation of drawing for precision engineering. Learners will learn errors in measurement and use of hand-held measuring equipment. Learners will also learn symbols, abbreviations, annotations, projections, common terms used in engineering drawings, and interpret geometric dimensioning and tolerancing symbols. The course creates opportunities for career development in precision engineering which is an important part of the Industry 4.0 ecosystem.
