Course objectives

The Diploma in Engineering (Mechatronics)-PCM course will be offered part-time in 5 Modular Certificates (MCs) leading to the full diploma. The total course duration is 900 hours over a span of 5 semesters or 2.5 years, comprising the following MCs:1. Modular Certificate in Mechanical Systems Development (180 hours)2. Modular Certificate in Electrical & Electronics Systems Development (180 hours)3. Modular Certificate in Automation Systems Development (180 hours)4. Modular Certificate in Autonomous Robotics Development (180 hours)5. Modular Certificate in Digital Technology Applications (180 hours)

Course description

Upon completion of Diploma in Engineering (Mechatronics)-PCM, learners will be able to:1. Analyse forces and create 2D/3D models from engineering drawings, while gaining expertise in material selection and applying engineering design principles for robotics and automation applications.2. Master DC circuit analysis and complex electrical circuits with various components, while developing skills in evaluating different configurations and troubleshooting analogue and digital circuits. 3. Design electro-pneumatic control systems and develop PLC programming skills, whilst learning to establish data exchange in industrial automation and incorporate machine vision systems for object detection. 4. Develop structured computer programming skills and learn motor selection, whilst gaining practical experience in integrating embedded controllers and mobile robots for specific tasks.5. Manage IoT resources and analyse big data, while developing skills in programming intelligent machines and integrating advanced manufacturing technologies for enhanced automation and efficiency.
