Course objectives
The Advanced Diploma in Nursing (Medical-Surgical) provides students with an in-depth knowledge and understanding of medical and nursing management of patients in the ward and high dependency environment. Relevant advanced technical skills, in-depth education on health assessment, patient education and unit management enable them to assume specialty roles upon graduation.
Course description
The Advanced Diploma in Nursing (Medical-Surgical) course will be offered full-time over 33 weeks. Total curriculum is 860 hours comprising 420 hours of academic studies and 440 of clinical practice. The following PDCs are covered under this programme:
1. Post-Diploma Certificate in Principles and Science of Medical-Surgical Nursing (210 hrs)
2. Post-Diploma Certificate in Practice of Medical-Surgical Nursing 1 (120 hrs)
3. Post-Diploma Certificate in Advanced Concepts in Medical-Surgical Nursing (210 hrs)
4. Post-Diploma Certificate in Practice of Medical-Surgical Nursing 2 (320 hrs)
