To provide an all-rounded educational experience for all students in NYP, NYP offers General Studies Modules (GSMs). This means that besides studying your core diploma modules relating to your chosen area of discipline, you will have the opportunity to be exposed to other areas beyond your field of study. Through taking a combination of prescribed and elective inter-disciplinary GSMs during your diploma course, you will gain interesting and valuable knowledge of many other areas important in your development as an NYP student. We hope you will also find this knowledge gained from GSMs practical and beneficial to you as you prepare for the world of work and life after graduation.

In year 3, there are more opportunities for you to broaden your knowledge beyond your field of study. In fact, you can select up to 2 elective GS modules offered by other Schools within NYP.
The Physical Fitness and Training module is tailored for Year 3 students headed for National Service. Fitness programs are specially curated for PES A/B students to learn how to properly train and perform at the various stations for the Individual Physical Proficiency Test (IPPT). Students will be split into groups by their physical proficiencies and be encouraged to achieve their best score by the end of the module.
This module will be compulsory for students who have failed or did not attempt the pre-test IPPT in March prior to the start of the course.
