Congratulations to Mahendra Prasad from SBM’s Diploma in Mass Media Management (DMMM) for receiving this prestigious scholarship. The SAF (Singapore Armed Forces Scholarship) is awarded to outstanding candidates who see honour in serving and defending the country through a military career. He has done SBM proud by being the first NYP student to be awarded this overseas scholarship. Inspired by close family members who are frontline workers in the healthcare industry, he was stirred to follow a similar path in in the current affairs or national defence sector.

“I want to be at the forefront of the nation 24/7 and be able to directly contribute to it. To me, it’s a very noble job and I can see myself staying in it for a very long time,” Mahendra says.

An accomplished student at SBM, Mahendra is grateful for the opportunities presented to him at NYP. He interned at Fox Network Group, and was also part of the Temasek Foundation Specialist Community Action and Leadership Programme. Keen to develop himself holistically, Mahendra was also an active member of the hockey team in NYP, and was President of the SBM Media Club. He managed these commitments well, maintained a GPA of 3.99, and was admitted to the Director’s List four times. We wish him the best as he pursues a degree in International Relations at King’s College London.
