The Specialist Diploma in Games Development (Design/Programming/Art) aims to deepen participants’ knowledge and skills in games development to undertake jobs in games companies or other companies requiring employees with games-related skillsets.

The participants will:

  • Acquire a deeper knowledge of the concepts and techniques needed for developing games through common core modules as well as a choice of focused tracks on game design, game programming or game art
  • Be equipped with a comprehensive overview of game development (including VR/AR game development) pipeline
  • Apply the acquired knowledge to their respective job function as well as to deepen their skills and competencies required to perform at a higher level.


SkillsFuture Work-Study Programme (WSP)

This course is designed in collaboration with the industry to ensure relevance to employers. The Specialist Diploma aligns with the SkillsFuture Work-Study Programme (WSP) to enable participants to undergo structured on-the-job training and mentorship.

The 12-month work-study programme is targeted at polytechnic graduates from Game Development (design, programming or art), Animation, IT and related courses. It gives fresh graduates a head start in careers related to their discipline of study. It also provides existing employees with an opportunity to deepen their knowledge and skills to enhance their career progression.

For candidates who are keen to take the Specialist Diploma in Game Development, without the WSP component, you may also sign up for this course as a public participant. Do note that participants should be able to attend lessons as mentioned in the course schedule, as the public run of the course will run in conjunction with the WSP participants.

What You'll Study

The programme consists of 6 classroom-based modules and 2 projects modules (may be conducted as OJT).


On successful completion of all module requirements, participants will be awarded with the Specialist Diploma in Game Development (Game Programming/Art & Design).
