3-weeks stay in NYP gave GAFA students and faculty a good insight to Singapore NYP students’ studio classes and healthy dosage of Singapore sunshine, and heartland living. Trip to Dakota Estates, walk in MacRitchie Reservoir, sharing the Singapore stories by our Singapore river, and walking through lanes of Singapore iconic landmark, our 8 Interaction Design students (IxD) proudly showed our island to the 16 students. Our local pineapple tarts, fresh Nonya spring rolls and Hainanese chicken rice also left a deep impression of the stay.
During the Singapore stay, students of both GAFA and SIDM conceived 4 projects, namely, 2643km Apart【我来自2643km之外】, Intangible Memories【触不到的回忆】, Tease【捉弄】and Zero Distance【零距离】。
In early November, lecturer Tyng and the 8 IxD students packed up and loaded themselves on the flight, travelling 2643km northwards to Guangzhou. Their mission was to realise their project ideas and have them showcased in an exhibition on 24 November in GAFA. During our 3-week stay, we were invited to a special exhibition, organised by GAFA, highlighting our past 5 years’ collaboration projects.
The 3-weeks stay have been a very focused and enriching. All well-spent hours on hard works asides, both students and staff have the privilege to gain the experience of living as a local, and insightful cultural and historical exchange, through weekend visits to various part of Guangzhou.
On 24 November 2016, the exhibition was graced by Cao Xue, Director of the Visual Communications.
