Evelyn Eng

Diploma in Spatial Design

Coming from the Science stream, Evelyn never considered design as a career option. But a single sharing session by an NYP lecturer would set her on her path to date.

During one of NYP’s outreach talks to secondary school prospects, a School of Design & Media lecturer shared animatedly about the Diploma in Spatial Design. Evelyn was sold! She loved that the diploma offered a wider scope of design, bringing together spatial quality, environmental considerations and architecture elements. Selecting it as her first choice for the Early Admissions Exercise was a no-brainer.

Evelyn today graduates with a perfect GPA of 4.0 – something almost practically unheard of in a design course.

She attributes her success to her classmates and recalls how they bonded through the three years. She says that they were there for each other through thick and thin. Where there were tears, there was also laughter – and lots of it.

Always diligent and curious, Evelyn says her internship experience at a local architecture was an excellent opportunity to broaden her design skillset. Her innovativeness and performance so impressed her supervisors that they asked her to continue working until she enters university – it was an offer that she was happy to accept.

Evelyn intends to read Architecture at the National University of Singapore and is excited to chase her dream of being an architect in the future.
