Overseas Exchange Programme in Thailand
15 students from the School of Applied Science engaged in cross-cultural learning alongside students from Kasetsart University in Thailand.
This Overseas Programme is supported by the Temasek Foundation Specialists’ Community Action and Leadership Exchange (TF SCALE), which serves as a leadership exchange initiative for students enrolled in polytechnics and technical and vocational education and training colleges (TVET) across ASEAN.
Participants will usually engage in cross-cultural learning about regional economic and community issues, and learn how to apply practical skills, technology, and research in community social innovation projects.
During their time in Bangkok, the students embarked on a journey of refinement and innovation as they honed their solutions to real-world challenges presented by Chul Thai Silk, a well-known silk manufacturing company in Thailand. Armed with insights gained from their experiences in Singapore, they delved deep into problem statements, applying their creativity and critical thinking skills to devise comprehensive strategies.
The group also ventured into the heart of Phechabun province, where they were greeted by the serene beauty of agricultural landscapes. Here, amidst sprawling silkworm farms, flourishing fishponds, and bustling chicken coops, the students learnt more about sustainable farming practices – and even tried out some activities themselves!
