Not sure if you'd like to go into business, IT, or engineering? The Common Business & Technology Programme – Singapore's only cross-school entry programme – allows you to explore all three disciplines in one exciting semester. Find where your strengths truly shine before choosing one of the eight diploma courses by the School of Business Management, School of Engineering or the School of Information Technology.
Applicants should demonstrate:
- Interest across the business, engineering and/or IT domains;
- Experience in business and/or technology-related activities, whether in a school environment (e.g. through CCAs, community activities, or leadership positions), or in external contexts (e.g. competitions, hackathons, entrepreneurship events, or involvement in digital business initiatives);
- Interest in keeping up with digital trends and understanding how technology affects businesses today;
- Critical thinking, analytical skills, and collaborative abilities to work effectively in teams to develop innovative solutions that bridge business needs with technological capabilities; and,
- Strong problem-solving abilities and effective communication skills to translate technical concepts into business value.
Interview
If you are shortlisted, you will be invited for an interview to share more about your passion for the course with a panel of interviewers. You will be assessed on your interest, aptitude, and communication skills across business, engineering, and IT domains. The duration of the interview will be between 15 to 20 minutes for a one-to-one interview.
Some questions which you may be asked during the interview include:
- What motivated you to explore a programme that spans across business, engineering, and IT?
- Can you share which aspects of these three disciplines (business, engineering, IT) interest you the most and why?
- Share an example of how you see these disciplines working together in the real world.
- How have you explored your interests in these areas (e.g., through CCAs, online courses, or hands-on projects)?
Portfolio (Optional)
You should include in your portfolio any evidence and/or activities that showcase your character and involvement relevant to business, engineering, or IT domains (such as leadership skills, problem-solving abilities, or innovative thinking).
Examples of what to include in your portfolio:
- Testimonials
- Certificates (e.g., academic, achievement and/or personal development)
- Participation in entrepreneurship activities, hackathons, or tech-related events
- Relevant learning journeys or Applied Learning Module (ApLM)
- Evidence of projects that demonstrate your interest in these fields (e.g., coursework, CCA, or personal initiatives)
- Examples of innovative solutions or projects that bridge multiple disciplines
- Evidence of leadership activities or roles
