First prize in the Heartland Innovation Challenge 2021

Congratulations to Molecular Biotechnology alumni team (Jaekan, Alex and Wen Xi) who clinched the first prize in the Heartland Innovation Challenge 2021, organised by Enterprise Singapore and the Federation of Merchants’ Association Singapore.

The team impressed the judging panel by submitting a good proposal for the Leaf Corner vegetarian restaurant: It was an idea extended from their Year 3 Bio-enterprise project on hydroponics at NYP, in which they added urban farming concept into their new café plan.

The café will serve hydroponically grown vegetables and vegetarian food, and provide customers the opportunity to have hands-on experience in growing hydroponic vegetables - with the objective of expanding the current market segments to target more youths and young working adults.

Hear Jaekan share his experience at the Heartland Innovation Challenge with CNA938FM.
