Gold for Singapore at WorldSkills International Competition 2019, Russia
School of Health & Social Sciences

The 45th WorldSkills International Competition, dubbed the “Youth Olympics of Skills”, was held in Kazan, Russia from 22 to 27 Aug 2019. NYP's SHSS nursing graduate, Regina Chia Yi Yun, took home the Gold Award for the Health & Social Care category, beating competitors from 18 other countries.

It was not an easy win, as Regina had fallen ill on the second day of the competition and needed medical treatment. This resulted in a delay of the start-time for her competition.  Undeterred, she persevered and did not give up.  Her resilience and determination saw her winning nods from the panel of judges, which led to the eventual award of the gold medal at the closing ceremony on 27 Aug.  Kudos to Regina – a true display of the NYPian indomitable spirit!
