At the School of Business Management (SBM), we equip learners with the skills and experiences needed to succeed in today’s interconnected world. Expand your worldview, gain practical experience, and enhance your global expertise!

Here's what’s in store for you:

1. Overseas Student Exchange Programme (OSEP)

SBM’s OSEP lets you spend a semester at one of many University partners across over 20 countries. This programme enables you to network internationally, immerse yourself in diverse cultures – all while earning academic credits toward your NYP Business Management diploma.

Imagine spending a semester at OST University of Applied Sciences in Switzerland, just like Natalie Tham (Diploma in Business Management) and Aleanor Tan (Diploma in Banking and Finance).

Over five months, they immersed themselves in Swiss culture and enjoyed the country’s natural beauty, the university's intellectual environment, and the warmth of the Swiss people. The exchange exposed them to a diverse and challenging curriculum while also fostering friendships with international students from countries like Portugal, France, Brunei, the Netherlands, and Germany.

When asked about her expereience, Natalie shared:

“Participating in OSEP has taught me the importance of global exposure, broadening my perspectives and equipping me with the skills to navigate an interconnected world. It is an experience I loved every moment of and will always cherish."

Aleanor also shared that there were many opportunities to engage and get to know other international students. "I learnt more about the different traditions and their way of life. It was very fascinating!”

2. Overseas Internship Programme

A record number of 19 SBM learners embarked on an incredible journey during the Overseas Internship Programme (OITP) in AY2024 Semester 2. They gained hands-on experience at leading organizations in Hong Kong, Vietnam, and the Philippines, including exciting placements at Hong Kong Disneyland and Ritz-Carlton, Hong Kong, covering roles from customer service to data analytics.

“Internships are crucial for personal and professional growth,” shared Rajeswari Kannathal D/O Muthuganapathy, Diploma in Business Management, who completed her internship in Vietnam with Rikkeisoft, a leading IT Enterprise. "I immersed myself in diverse cultures, experiencing celebrations like Halloween, Christmas, New Year, and Chinese New Year, which enriched my understanding of global perspectives."

"Through this internship, I built a strong international network, especially within the HR field, connecting with professionals from various backgrounds and expanding my horizons."

"Accepting the local tempo and comprehending everyday living peculiarities proved critical to my absorption into the workplace. I strongly encourage fellow students to seek out similar opportunities that can profoundly shape their professional journeys," shared Tong Ee Son (Class of 2025), who completed his internship as a Management Trainee at JW Marriott Hanoi and graduated with a Diploma in Hospitality & Tourism Management.

3. Overseas Educational Learning Programme

Take part in short educational trips across the region designed to foster a global mindset. These immersive experiences include company visits, seminars, and networking opportunities with industry leaders, providing you with valuable insights into global business trends and challenges.

In June 2024, a trip for students in the Diploma in Mass Media Management (now Diploma in Media & Communication) programme achieved that.

  • 16 students and 2 lecturers had the opportunity to meet Ms. Olivia Siong, Senior Correspondent at CNA Beijing Bureau. She shared her firsthand experiences and insights into China's media landscape and the role of a foreign correspondent.
  • The group also explored cutting-edge media technologies at Kuaishou (快手科技) and EnlightV (澜景未来媒体中心), gaining insights into how these industry leaders navigate the ever-evolving Chinese market and implement innovative strategies.
