Imagine Cup Singapore 2016 Champion
Team Yuuy from SEG topped the World Citizenship Category of Microsoft Imagine Cup Singapore 2016. Team Yuuy presented their solution Ruth, a social robot designed to be an assistant as well as a companion to the elderly. Ruth interacts with the elderly in a natural way: it listens to and understands speech in context, and reciprocates with appropriate verbal answers; in addition, it recognises faces, responds to the user’s emotions and displays expression feedback. The team was mentored by Dr Edwin Foo and Mr Liaw Sze Wong.
