    There are two specialisation pathways: Mechanical Specialisation or Avionics Specialisation. Students can choose their specialisation during enrolment.

     

     

    Mechanical Specialisation

     

    Learning Units

    • 26 Competency Units (CmU): Each CmU integrates skills and knowledge from different disciplines. This enables the students to fulfil specific work-tasks upon completion. 
    • 4 Work-Integration Units (WIU): A WIU is a workplace contextualised project. It allows students to tackle real-world work problems under the guidance of our educators, so that our students graduate ready for the workplace. Each WIU belongs to a Competency Canvas that helps you develop and demonstrate your abilities to perform work tasks at a higher proficiency. 

     

    4 Competency Canvases 
    Each Competency Canvas consists of a collection of CmUs and a WIU, which is a workplace-contextualised project. Competency Canvases help you develop and demonstrate your abilities to perform work tasks at a higher proficiency. 

     

     

    Avionics Specialisation

     

    Learning Units

    • 24 Competency Units (CmU): Each CmU integrates skills and knowledge from different disciplines. This enables the students to fulfil specific work-tasks upon completion. 
    • 4 Work-Integration Units (WIU): A WIU is a workplace contextualised project. It allows students to tackle real-world work problems under the guidance of our educators, so that our students graduate ready for the workplace. Each WIU belongs to a Competency Canvas that helps you develop and demonstrate your abilities to perform work tasks at a higher proficiency.

    In Year 3 of your specialisation, you can choose to do:

    • 12-week Internship Programme and 12-week Final Year Project
      For the internship, you will have a chance to work with our industry partners and gain hands-on experience to be confident in the workplace. For the final year project, you will be able to showcase the skills that you have gained in the diploma.

    Or

    • 24-week Internship Programme
      You will have a chance to work with our industry partners in Singapore or overseas and gain hands-on experience to be confident in the workplace. 

      

    The Internship Programme and Final Year Project are WIUs.

     

     

    11 General Studies Modules (GSM)
    General Studies Modules allow you to explore other areas of interest beyond your chosen area of specialisation. You will have to take 6 prescribed GSMs and 5 elective GSMs across Year 1 and 2.

    Course curriculum

    This course adopts the new Professional Competency Model.
    Every student will gain industry certifications from industry leaders such as Microchip throughout their course of study.

    • You will take the following units regardless of your chosen specialisation (Mechanical/Avionics).

      You will take a total of 2 elective GSMs in Year 1. You will have a wide range of elective GSMs to choose from. Please note that the modules offered are subject to change each semester.

      Each elective module consists of 10 hours of class time and 5 hours of eLearning/self-directed learning.

      Rapid population growth and industrialisation has placed immense pressure on our planet, causing issues like climate change, ocean acidification, water shortages, biodiversity loss, and desertification. This module addresses significant environmental issues and sustainable strategies to ensure a habitable 21st century.

      Fun with Chemistry (ASX113)

       

      An expensive piece of clothing has a stain on it and you’re wondering how to get rid of it, or maybe even create your own cleaning agents. Or perhaps you are curious to know about the chemical molecules behind the various scents? This module will bring you on a fun and exciting journey to better understand how chemistry is present in our lives and how it can affect us daily.

      Wonders of Alternative Medicine (ASX114)

       

      Acupuncture, homeopathy, Ayurveda, traditional Chinese medicine… these are all examples of alternative medicines. The question is, do they really work compared to conventional medicine? This module will bring you on an exploration into the fascinating world of alternative medicines.

    • You will take the following units based on your chosen specialisation.
